Happy Friday! We hope you've enjoyed your week. Carnival festivities are still booming so there'll be loads of entertainment for everyone.
Here's an update on what's happening over the long weekend ahead of us:
Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show - On Friday 3rd of August, The Antigua Recreation Grounds will be host to the annual Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show. Come see beauties from the Caribbean different islands compete in varying segments including performing talent, costume and evening wear just to name a few. This event will begin at 8:00 pm and the admission is $25.00 EC.
Party Monarch Competition - The highly anticipated Lime Party Monarch Competition will kick off from 8:00 PM on Saturday 4th August. Come see the local artists battle it out to see who will be crowned the Party Monarch 2012. Admission is $35.00 EC in advance and $40.00 at the gate.
Calypso Monarch Competition - So you've witnessed the qualifying rounds leading up to the big event- Now it's here! Come see the finalists put on a show in one the Caribbean's trade mark musical art forms, Calypso, at the Antigua Recreation grounds. Admission is $25.00 EC. This event will be held on Sunday 5th August.
Carnival Monday - J'ouvert and Judging of the bands - It's J'ouvert time again! Come out and enjoy revelry as patrons come out to 'jam' in the one of the biggest street parties you'll ever experience. The J'ouvert celebration kicks off from 3:00 AM and the route will take you through the city of St. John's. Later in the day at 4:00 PM will be the judging of Carnival 'Mas' troupes at the Antigua Recreation Grounds. Admission is $10.00 EC.
Carnival Tuesday - Announcement of winners and Last Lap - at 11:00 AM on Tuesday 7th August, the parade of bands will commence in the city of St. John's and winners announced. At 8:00 will be the last lap festivities with party goers parading through the city of St. John's closing off Carnival festivities.
